I talked to a guy who thought it was cruel for people who do good in life just to go to hell solely due to not believing in a specific religion. Thoughts on this?

It's called God respecting our individual free will.
He could let everyone into heaven if he removed all sin from us, but we'd be souless robots with no independence.
And as far as "doing good" there is not enough good deeds in a dozen lifetimes to be worthy.
If Baqqrih rolls up trying to character assassinate me for actually engaging in serious discussion again I'm leaving the site, deadass.

Mormonism teaches of multiple kingdoms of heaven, the celestial kingdom for believers, terrestrial kingdom for people that didn't believe but led an honorable life, and the telestial kingdom and outer darkness for the degens; if this is true then most will probably end up in terrestrial kingdom. Plus it is 100% possible to technically "believe in God" but still be a horrible person who's going to hell, belief alone isn't the only factor

Joseph smith added fake verses to the Bible and married a 14 year old so that is not true at all
